Did someone say “Song of the Summer?” Kansas City based 5-piece shimmer-pop band Kat King has released ‘New Sun,’ and it couldn’t have come at a better time!
Kat says “This is the first song <they> truly wrote as a band” and you can feel that sense of community in the song. This isn’t solo singer-songwriter vibe, it feels classic and timeless in it’s full band arrangement— it’s effortlessly cool and feels almost like it’s been around forever, while having it’s own unique sound and feel. It feels like the soundtrack for hanging out with your friends in the summertime. The very seamless production brings the drums into the forefront and makes the gentle harmonies blend effortlessly with the catchy synth motif. The chorus ascends and reaches a peak as the lyrics say “I levitate” taking you to another place, allowing you to escape from the current moment.
