Montreal, QC @ Bar Le Ritz

A packed room waited for Angie McMahon and her band to hit the stage. After all, this was her first ever show in Canada.

Before McMahon, Philadelphia newcomer Julia Pratt played a solo set for around half an hour. She kindly introduced herself to audience members who weren’t familiar and dove into her setlist of new, old, and unreleased tracks.

Celebrating the release of her sophomore album Light, Dark, Light Again, Australian Angie McMahon made sure to express her love for Canada, and how she felt the need to at least have one show in the country on this tour. Stating “I begged so many people to make this show happen. We needed at least one Canadian date.”

The small Bar Le Ritz was packed with McMahon’s fans who didn’t fail to sing and yell along to her painful yet relatable lyrics from her debut to now. Also, the Montreal crowd received a surprise visit from Leif Vollebekk who shared the stage during “If You Call” and Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ In the Wind”.

Even if the only Canadian date was due to budget, there’s a room full of McMahoners that appreciate the detour.
