Bastille and Graham Coxon Releases “WHAT YOU GONNA DO???”.

It’s incredible. Since their first album Bad Blood, released in 2013, Bastille always made hits. First of all, the English band has the peculiarity of having Dan Smith, their frontman and singer, (one of the best voices of these years in my opinion), but also the arrangements of their songs are really well made and never trivial. Their last single, “WHAT YOU GONNA DO???” (yep, it’s in caps lock) written and recorded featuring former Blur guitarist Graham Coxton, is a really energetic song, with a chorus that has the energy of a slap in the face, directly, without letting us think of what is happening. But the best thing in the song is surely how guitars are played in it by Graham Coxon, we can hear how he’s driving the song into those 90’s brit rock sounds and feelings. I love it.
The song lyrics are a wake up call. Literally.
“You got us listening, so what you gonna do? / Now what you gonna do with it? / You got us listening, so what you gonna do? / Now what you gonna do with it? / Make me paranoid, love me, hate me, fill the void / What you gonna do with it?”
We must leave our online world, we don’t have to be like “Sally that’s never outside / Got a screen to hide behind / She says she’s happy on the inside / And got a lot of friends online.”
Let’s wake up. The real world is outside. And when you have finished reading this, (obviously with face mask on and respecting social distances) go out, listen to this song watching the particularities that nature has. Look at the real world.
