Based in Toronto, Ontario, Rose Jones is a pop/alternative artist who is always striving to be the best singer/songwriter she could be. She recently released her third single, titled “Lush”, which focuses on all kinds of relationships and the bonds she’s created. Read our interview with her below.

“Lush” is your third single, how does it differentiate from the other two?

What makes this song different than my others is the feel, the message, and the incorporation and influences of other genres. There is more of an indie pop element to it which I love. I also really like Pop music and Alternative/Rock is my favourite, and I feel “Lush” captures a perfect blend of the two.

What message are you trying to convey with this song?

Lush was written during my experience in the COVID-19 quarantine. “Lush” is about feeling like you are outgrowing yourself—habits, relationships, and surroundings. I wanted to make a change in myself because I didn’t like who I was. I was up partying to feel connected, but that only ended in feeling more isolated. You want to cover up that loneliness so you do impulsive things like finding the next hangout, wanting to be surrounded by new people, having a party, or a new, exciting, lover. I became a Lush and not the pretty kind. I sing this song to those who I felt I could’ve been better to and to those who could’ve been better to me. I sing to the ones that got away, the friendships that died young, and to the ones I  currently can’t live without.

Will you be releasing an EP or album any time soon?

I am currently working on songs to put on my debut EP. Hopefully sometime next year!

Our blog is all about up and coming artists and bands, are there any you’d like to give a shoutout to?

So awesome! Would love to give a shoutout to a local Emo band from Belleville, Ontario called “Arms Length”. They’re rad guys.
