Sean Kennedy Releases His Second Album [Q&A].
Interviewed by: Sarah Evangelista
So, you're currently in high school, is balancing your music and school work hard to do? And how do you manage both?
There definitely has to be prioritizing, and school always comes first, but I tend to work on my music in the wintertime, when I don't play a sport.
You're about to release your second album, The One, are you nervous about putting it out into the world at all?
I'm nervous but I'm also so excited! I've gotten so much positive feedback from the singles of the album, so it makes me feel really good.
Between your debut album released last year, and your upcoming project, what are the differences? Was the writing process different? The sound in general maybe?
My debut album, Tell Me, was very much a coming of age album. It was all about my experiences right before I entered high school. This album takes a much more mature standpoint. Also, I think this album signifies a shift from my singer-songwriter style of my last album, to a much more pop approach.
You started playing music at a very young age, what do you think stuck out most to you?
I've always loved music, and my writing process developed very naturally. I wrote so often, and eventually I began to write about my feelings, which turned into songs.
"All The Time" is all about working up the courage to talk to someone you had an eye on, so is The One based on love?
Totally. This album is a chronological record, and All the Time is the beginning phase of meeting this person. The tracks continue to follow the story of falling in love with someone, and eventually getting your heart broken, but in the end finding yourself and learning that you'll fall in love many times again.
Although people may be sick and tired of love songs, Sean Kennedy’s newest album will make you feel like love is alive again.
