Fiona Grey Releases “crush”.
Written by: Julia Jade
Fiona Grey’s single “Crush” is out now, and it is definitely a “never-skip.” This song captures a different side of having a crush than most songs do— rather than focusing on the bubbly, hopeful bits, “Crush” depicts the yearning, the vulnerability, and the surrender of having feelings for somebody.
“Tell me if you’re running, are you running from me? Are you afraid of loving all the things we could be?” Grey asks the questions we all have wished we could ask someone we love. “Well, I’ll just keep on loving, would you do that for me? You know… anyway it goes down, I’ve got a crush.” Fiona paints a picture of the exciting yet often stubborn love we feel for someone that is not reciprocated, the kind of love that sticks around regardless of an outcome. The production of the song bursts and fills a room, and sounds the way it feels to have a crush: loud, powerful, and endearing.
The release of “Crush” is following her release “You Are Loved,” a tribute to her younger sibling. I wonder if there will be a theme throughout her upcoming releases, as right now these songs are tied together by love, loss, and sense of care that fills a room. Stream “Crush,” out now.
