UK-Based indie-pop Band daydreamers Release Debut their Highly Anticipated Single “Call Me Up”.

Doom scrolling has become one of my least favorite, but somehow very necessary parts of my daily routine. I have pavloved myself into having at least one meal a day accompanied by short form, vertical videos and usually, the content is pretty underwhelming. That was until, I heard the chorus to the daydreamers not-yet-released single, “Call Me Up”, and needless to say – I was hooked.

Four piece indie pop band, daydreamers, teased the chorus in an Instagram reel about six weeks ago, showcasing lead singer walking through a train station, lip syncing and playing air guitar. Since its first appearance, “Call Me Up” has soundtracked numerous other Reels in the same casual vein of being a young person in love in a big city with endless possibilities.

The song begins with a quick drum fill, leading us right into the hook which also happens to be the chorus. The rhythm guitar is reminiscent of “Settle Down” or “Pressure”, off of The 1975’s self-titled album. It sticks around for the entirety of the nearly three minute song and is coupled nicely with a thick eighties electric strum right after the first verse. “I’m so tired of the people / ‘Cause people don’t look at me like you”, the second verse confesses. Almost immediately after, there is a pull back on every instrument except the drums and electric guitar, that allow the vocal harmonies shine into the third and final reprises of the chorus.

Though the band’s Instagram has been active since January of last year, the teasing of their debut single has really put them on many indie-pop radars. Upon its release on April 4, the song has already been featured on BBC Radio 1’s “First Play” and has over 250,000 streams on Spotify. The band wrote in a post “...it’s been such a journey and we’ve only got to this point because of you guys… we have soooooo much more music lined up ready to go. Just the beginning. Get ready to stream hell out of this”.
