Chiiild Releases ‘Better Luck In The Next Life’.

Written by Nina Fedai

I would describe Chiiild's newest album, Better Luck In The Next Life, as gloriously apocalyptic. Both dark but propitious, each and every song mimics a journey consisting of both peaks and valleys.

The opening track which is also titled “Better Luck In The Next Life” really sets the tone for the album. The song represents an end of an era and is suggestive of the start to a new era, which is a concept I think Chiiild was trying to highlight through this album. That said, while the album is certainly fresh, he has remained true to his signature sound and artistic structure.

Chiiild covers a variety of themes and topics in this album such as escapism, love, hope, and renewal.

Features from artists Lucky Daye, Aline Baraz, Caitlyn Scarlett, and Charlotte Cardin, add extra dimension to an already strong production. The album also features an instrumental interlude titled “Mile-End,” which acts as a bridge for “I hope I Packed A Parachute” and “Into The Deep End.” As the titles suggest, the Canadian artist reintroduces the themes of termination, climax, and genesis.

Overall, the album is really strong and, as always, Chiiild definitely delivered in the vocal, musicality, and storytelling departments. Personally, “Good Fo Now,” and “Bon Voyage” have both been playing on repeat.

The album also features multiple easter eggs, but we’ll leave those for you guys to find :)
