Sour Windows
The band walked on stage with nothing but confidence and had such a unique look that you couldn't help but be mesmerized. I have never heard of them or listened to their music and I am glad I didn't. Seeing them live was spectacular and made the experience of hearing their music for the first time so organic.
During the performance you were transported into their ephemeral world of melancholic guitars
with transcendence vocals.
The songs I would describe is a soft rock with a melody from the two lovely people, Maia Sinaiko and Susanna Thomson. All of a sudden a song would get to the chorus and they would let a rip with their stunning vocals. The crowd went wild!! After their first songs, they took a break to talk with the crowd while on stage. Everyone in the crowd started to cheer "Mommy" and Maia Sinaiko asked, "Are we your mommy or do you need your mommy?" The crowd went ecstatic with chants and Sour Widows introduced themselves with smiles plastered on their faces.
The Sour Widows are from Oakland, California and they brought their west coast flare to the east coast. With all of their styles combined and their genre of music, you got into a heavenly trance. I loved their different hairstyles and outfits on stage!
After the show, I had the pleasure of meeting them at the merch table. They were so sweet and appreciative of you watching their set and especially getting some pictures of them!
It is safe to say Sour Widows is one of my new favorite bands to add to my everyday listens! :)
Surf Curse
Talk about a show filled with excitement, high energy, and passion.
The crowd started with a whimsical vibe during the opening act, Sour Widows. As soon as Surf
Curse hit the stage, the energy roared from the crowd.
I had the privilege of seeing Surf Curse at Shaky Knees the weekend before and seeing them
again at this show in Orlando. The band was incredible at both shows but so was the crowd. I have never seen such committed crowds in my life.
Throughout the show the crowd was crowd surfing, chanting, and moshing! The band kept the same energy while playing their hearts out and having the biggest smiles on stage.
One of my favorite things about shows is when a band talks to the crowd and you can see their personalities shine through. At both shows I attended the band added in their humor and knew how to keep the crowd engaged and moving the whole time.
This Surf Curse show was a memorable performance. As soon as their top hit song, "Freaks" came on the crowd went insane. You saw a wave of bodies and yells move towards the stage then back and on repeat. Then they ended the show with "Silent Disco," another banger.
Gotta say that Surf Curse is a 10/10 to experience with the crowd and music itself!
