Written by Laury Verdoux
Dublin-based indie-rock sensation, The Valmonts, have taken the helm with their latest EP, Living In A Paranoid Trance. The EP captures the band's essence of their experiences and emotions.
The Valmonts' music journey, rooted in influences from the 80s and 90s classics, has taken them from the garage to the stage. Comprised of Darragh Whyte (vocals, guitar), Keith Whyte (drums), Cathal Sweeney (guitar), and Tymek Kocurkiewicz (bass), the band shares an intrinsic passion for music. Their sound, a blend of indie-rock with a pop and mainstream sensibility, draws inspiration from bands like New Radicals and INXS, reminiscent of The Kooks and The Vaccines.
Their new EP Living In A Paranoid Trance encapsulates a powerful emotional narrative experienced by the band. Its infectious melodies and vocal hooks make it impossible to resist. Each track, uniquely written and produced, exudes an indie-rock radiance while showcasing the band's depth and maturity.
The focus track '“Me & Myself Again” is not only a musical delight but also a visual feast. The music video, featuring Dublin and the band's local haunts, captures the loneliness that accompanies love's disappointments. The mundane moments of life are depicted with an undercurrent of emotional turmoil, creating a powerful juxtaposition of beauty and melancholy.
"We have managed to live in a privately defined world with ‘Living In A Paranoid Trance’ for a while now. It has been the soundtrack to the last few years of our lives, and we're really excited to finally put it out into the world."
