Notes on a Conditional Form - The 1975

Starting off strong, the Manchester based group released this award winning album this year, and it’s been on our playlists ever since. Also, it starts off with Greta Thunberg and gives you chill from the start. With upbeat tunes like “If You’re Too Shy (Let Me Know)”, and even break down crying songs like “Don’t Worry”, it will take you on an emotional ride. This album took many months to make, many countries and studios to create in, but it was so worth it.

favourite tracks:
  • "If You're Too Shy (Let Me Know)
  • "Birthday Party"

elated! - Bea Miller

This project was actually released on my birthday (hey it’s Sarah), and it was the best gift ever. In elated!, she speaks of world issues, and isn’t afraid to speak her mind, and that’s what makes this album receive a big gold star.

favourite tracks:
  • "hallelujah"
  • "making bad decisions"

sucks to see you doing better - Valley

Based in Toronto, the indie pop quartet never fails to bring good music to the table. They’re doing things their own way, and they’re definitely killing it. STSYDB contains tracks about love, heartbreak, and has Harry Potter and The Office references. Months after the release of this project, the group released an extra track “All The Animals I Drew as a Kid”, which made it even more special.

favourite tracks:
  • "sucks to see you doing better"
  • "BE THE ONE"

The Slow Rush - Tame Impala

This masterpiece of an album obviously had to make the list. Released 5 years after his iconic album, Currents, Kevin Parker killed it yet again with his psychedelic excellence. Also, have to mention that the cover art is so amazing. The Slow Rush took a long time to create, but it was so worth the wait.

favourite tracks:
  • "Is It True"
  • “Breathe Deeper"

Anxious, Irrational, Fashionable - Flara K

Based off in Montreal, the duo has released their debut album this year. Other than having a relatable album name, it speaks of love, and not just in the typical way, but a super cool Flara K way, and we love them for that.

favourite tracks:
  • "For A Minute"
  • "Pink & Blue"

mama’s boy - LANY

LANY never fails to release emotional and amazing tracks, and their newest release is breathtaking. Although it consists of mostly slow and sad tracks, like “if this is the last time”, they added some fun songs like “you!”, which makes the album an emotional rollercoaster, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

favourite tracks:
  • "you!"
  • “when you're drunk"

Nonsuch Park (sa) - Scott Helman

After the release of his beautiful album Hotel De Ville, the pop artist released this project in September. Although, I’m still not sure what the album title means, the album is so amazing.
