Peach Tree Rascals Release “End of Time”.

Written by: Lauren Everett

Los Angeles-based creative collective Peach Tree Rascals released the pop-rap project End of Time, a message of hope and their second EP of 2022, on December 2. Written and produced entirely by the Rascals’ five members, the genre-bending EP takes influence from artists ranging from Frank Ocean to the Beatles and holds true to the DIY roots of the collective, which was formed in a San Diego basement in 2018. Released on the heels of a cancelled North American tour, the project symbolizes the group’s resilience through difficult times and sunny outlook on life.

A focus on the present is a common theme throughout the project’s six songs, as seen on lead single “C’est la Vie”, on which lead vocalist Joseph Barrios sings “I’d fly right into the sun, c’est la vie, ‘cause the stars look so much brighter with you,” while on the EP’s title track, the final song of the project, Barrios looks towards the future, singing “you and I/we could make a life/you and I/till the end of time”.

Of the project, the group said “We feel like as time passes, we get lost and caught up in things that constantly take us away from peace in the present moment. Whether it’s work, school, social media, relationships, etc. Everything feels like it’s slowly draining our energy and pulling us away from the people, places, and things we love. This project is about us finding that peace within our own lives and experiences. It’s about removing those negative energies in our lives and surrounding ourselves with love and trust. So that if the world were to come to an end right now, we would be content.”
