Mauskovic Dance Band Releases Bukaroo Bank.
Written by: Eva Lynch
Mauskovic Dance Band is an Amsterdam-based psychedelic dub post-punk quartet. Their second album “Buckaroo Bank” takes their brash psychedelic post-punk style and introduces some funk, creating a sound which feels almost Ska-influenced, with instruments like the saxophone and congas which are slightly reminiscent of The English Beat, but more experimental. The band cites late Jamaican dub Lee Perry as their biggest influence. With their
hypnotic rhythms with experimental sounds, this album is sure to get you dancing.
The band re-invented their approach and sound to explore other ways of channeling their rhythms for this album, recorded during Netherland’s 2020 lockdown. The album aims to channel afro-disco and other unique highlife sounds. The process of creating “Buckaroo Bank” shows their passion and vision, and assure fans it’s “an irrepressibly fun album -- but one that contains multitudes.”
