Interview with EDITH.

It’s safe to say that EDITH is one to watch in 2021. We got the chance to chat with the artist about music, check it out below.
What's your fondest musical memory?
I would say one of the best memories is when my parents bought me my first guitar. I had been talking about if for years and when it finally happened I was ecstatic. I remember crying because I wasn’t able to play it properly in the first day, so my mum had to talk me through how it takes time and practice to be able to succeed. In a way I have taken that metaphor with me along the way, although that 10 year old in me still comes out sometimes when I am stuck on something haha!
What advice would you give to musicians trying to start up in the industry?
I would definitely say keep pushing, learning and most importantly being yourself. It takes time finding your sound, but it doesn’t mean you don’t have one. Music is an absurdly tough industry where you will have your dreams crushed within a second if you let them take that power away from you. I would say, when you doubt yourself get back up and write that song, learn that piano part or work on that track, whatever it is for you. Every failure is a blessing in disguise and most certainly every single one of them helps create the best version of yourself.
“Over It” is the first single off of your upcoming album, how are you feeling about it being released into the world?
I actually haven’t yet told anyone about my upcoming album. I thought this would be the perfect time to do so. Indeed, I am working on my debut album, which I would say is nearly finished and I honestly cannot wait for people to hear it. It is different, it is me but improved. The songs all have a different story, although somehow, they fit into a perfect narrative which creates the album from beginning to end. For me, the most important thing is that my fans listen and relate and that it helps them with whatever emotion they are going through.
Do you feel as if your music has already evolved from your last EP and your upcoming project?
For sure! It is so fulfilling seeing progress and watching yourself do better every day. My music is slowly going into the direction I want it to and I couldn’t be more excited for the future.
You tend to write a ton about love and heartbreak, what’s your favourite lyric from “Over It”?
I do! I think with’ Over It’, my favourite lyric would be ‘I’d rather die than cry for you’, because when you’re in that situation, when you’re experiencing heartbreak all you want it to be over it and also to regain the power back. In fact, no matter how much you don’t want to, you will still cry because I actually believe showing emotion is a sign of strength. With this particular line, I was being immature and almost saying the words I say to my friends in a song. I’m sure most of us fill the group chat with petty comebacks, it’s an extremely common way of getting past those emotions.
Our music website focuses on up and coming artists and bands, do you have any favorites right now?
I would say that I have listened to GRACEY, her EP is amazing by the way, and the way she has come so far is inspiring for us smaller artists. There are millions of talented musicians out there, finding new talent is always exciting. Everyone’s art is so beautifully original.
