Begonia Releases ‘Powder Blue’.

Today, alt/pop riser Begonia (Alexa Dirks) has released her new album Powder Blue.

I recently found Begonia’s music through our submissions and fell in love with the single “Married By Elvis”. Its beautiful strings, vocals, and imagery had me hooked and wanting more. Luckily, I discovered that she would be releasing a new album a few weeks later. That day is finally here.

The project starts off with Dirks’ solo vocals, which is followed with strings, and finger snaps. Simple but chilling. It is almost rare that the first track from a record already makes the listener obsessed, but this one does. The obsession follows through in every song.

Of “The Only One,” Begonia recalls, “you know that feeling when you think everyone around you is having more fun in their lives than you, so you force yourself out of bed and into the world only to realize you just want to be at home back under the covers? That feeling of running up to the club doors like you are about to enter the best night of your life, but then you end up waiting at the back of the line freezing cold wishing you’d never gone out. I wrote this being like...‘I can’t be the only one, right?’”

If you haven’t heard of the name Begonia yet, just wait, because you will be hearing it everywhere soon enough.
